IPC PENTECOSTAL CHURCH OF KUWAIT SUNDAY SCHOOL
Someone rightly said, “Tomorrow’s world is shaped by what we teach our children today.”
In a world darkened by spiritual ignorance and sin, the Word of God is a beacon to the lost souls stumbling in spiritual darkness. One can equip himself in his walk of faith by being deeply rooted in God’s Word.
Sunday School movement began with English Anglican Evangelist Robert Raikes towards the close of 17th century. He persuaded a group of ragged children spending time in noise and riot to go with him to church on Sundays and afterwards to attend a school. By the beginning of 18th century, Sunday School activities swiftly spread and became universal. Gradually, Sunday School became a worldwide movement and reached the Indian sub-continent.
The history of Sunday School in Indian Pentecostal Churches (IPC) is as old as the history of the churches itself. A Sunday School Samajam was formed in 1960 by coordinating all the Sunday Schools of IPC. In 1979, it was re-constituted and IPC Sunday School Association came into existence which had its own curriculum and a common examination system.
In Kuwait, Pentecostal Church of Kuwait (PCK) was the earliest of the Pentecostal churches to initiate a Sunday School, inaugurated in 1973 by the late pastor P.M. Philip during his visit to Kuwait.
Past five decades, God Almighty enabled PCK Sunday School to thrive in this desert land under the able leadership of the resident pastors, headmasters and a team of passionate and dedicated teachers, whom we remember with gratitude.
PCK Sunday School aims at each child being enriched by God’s Word, empowered by the Holy Spirit and emulating the person of Jesus Christ. Based on the curriculum by IPC Sunday School Association, it envisions a generation who would seek God with a whole heart, stand for His inerrant Word and yearn for a pure undefiled living.
Currently there are approximately 40 teachers and over 250 students from Infants to grade 12. The classes are held every Friday Morning from 7:30am to 9:00am. This noble ministry has been a blessing to hundreds of children in the past. In an extent of love towards their Saviour, few children have dedicated their lives to work full time in the Lord’s vineyard while others shine as exemplary Christians in their respective careers.
May this lamp continue to illumine the lives of many children, preparing them for an eternity with Christ Jesus, our Lord and Saviour.
